TimeClue is a free, portable and extremely simple time reminder software that fades your desktop into a bluish color at fixed intervals. At minute 0, 15, 30 and 45 of each hour, the fader gets activated. Fader won't become active unless app has been running for at least 15 minutes. If you want to know what the fading looks like, just start TimeClue and click the app icon in system tray. To quit, right click the icon and choose Exit from the shortcut menu.

Note Genie right from the very beginning seemed like a bit of a strange program to me. Fair enough, I was reviewing the software on Windows 7 when its clearly published as only supporting up to Windows XP, but nevertheless in my rebellious fashion I ventured on and ran the installer. The installation process itself seems pretty ancient, and reminded me of the pre Windows 95 days! I did have a problem installing Note Genie, regarding a certain file being more up to date that another, but I’ll put that down to Windows 7.

Note Genie is on sale for about $30. I felt slightly mislead by the program before even starting, after receiving a popup dialog box message after starting Note Genie for the first time.
