- Using MATLAB(R) and Symbolic Math Toolbox(TM) to Develop and Analyze Financial Models
- License: Freeware

These files introduce how Symbolic Math Toolboxd-OC?D? can be used to evaluate Nelson Siegel and Svensson models, which are 2 widely used techniques for modeling yield data. We demonstrate how you can define the models in the MuPAD notebook interface and perform some basic analysis and visualization of the models. We then show how you can calculate analytical Jacobians for the models, and use these Jacobians to help speed up an optimization where model parameters are optimized such that they fit government bond data as well as possible. You will need MATLABâ„¢, Symbolic Math Toolbox, and Statistics Toolboxd-OC?D? to run this demo.

- Natural Cubic Splines Yield Curve
- License: Freeware

The fitting of smooth curve through a set of data points and extention to this is the fitting of 'best fit' spline to a large set of data points which show the cerrent trend but which do not all lie above the curve. The method involves cluster analysis, that is, grouping the crude data into clusters and seed points are the limites of each cluster. The central for each clustrer become nodes through which a natural spline is fitted. There are five stages nessesary in the cluster analysis and calculation of node positions, summerised as follow: 1. starting with choosing seed points 2. determine two data point which are closest to each seed point (the nearest neighbour pair) 3.

- PV Bean Counter
- License: Shareware

PV Bean Counter provides a Windows service that extracts yield data from photovoltaic array inverters. It can handle multiple inverters of multiple types. It also extracts consumption data from energy meters.
The inverter yield and meter data is all stored in a local database. This data can be automatically uploaded to pvoutput.org. This is a free web site that allows you to record and display your energy generation and consumption data.
The latest version of PV Bean Counter includes a Windows desktop energy monitor component that provides real time visibility of the energy readings passing into the PVBC service.

random_band is the main program and it outputs a test signal which has a constant level. The instanatenous frequency varies randomly within the specified Nth octave band range. The program outputs three plots: time record of the instantaneous frequency, time record of the instantaneous level, and a histogram of the spectral content. The test signal is constructed by generating a a set of random number for the instantaneous frequency as a function of time. The instantaneous frequency is integrated to yield the phase angle. The trigonometric sin function is used to construct the real part of the amplitude.

- Eigen Energy Solver for Schroedinger Equation
- License: Freeware

The program 'Efinder' numerically solves the Schroedinger equation using MATLAB's 'ode45' within a range of energy values. By taking advantage of the dramatic endpoint behavior of the resulting wave solutions, 'Efinder' determines the eigen energies to any accuracy needed. This program has been used to determine the eigen energies for several potentials, one of which being that for a fluxon trapped in a double- well potential. The Schroedinger equation for this type of potential must be solved numerically, as no substitutions or other method has yet been devised that can solve this type of differential equation to yield a formulaic solution for En.

- Active Contours: A New Distribution Metric for Image Segmentation
- License: Freeware

How can we characterize an image, and does the same characterization yield the same result? In this work, we study one possible characterization, distribution metrics. That is, we assume the desired region of interest has a different probability distribution from its corresponding background. Using this, we present a new distribution metric for image segmentation that arises as a result in prediction theory. Forming a natural geodesic, our metric quantifies 'distance' for two density functionals as the standard deviation of the difference between logarithms of those distributions. Using level set methods, we incorporate an energy model based on the metric into the Geometric Active Contour framework.

IMSHADE will plot a matrix representing topography as a 3-component color image, with intensity proportional to the magnitude of the topographic slope of each pixel. Optionally, it can take an argument for lighting angle to use the directional slope. The current colormap will be used, but future changes in the colormap will not alter the image, since it is now displayed as RGB derived from the colormap and shading. Nondirectional shading usually scales well, though it is not very robust to spikes in the topographic gradient. The normalization used for directional shading does not always yield satisfactory results and may benefit from some tweaking.
