VisualShearWall will help you design complex and irregular shear wall systems. It automates much of the work involved in finite element modeling (FEM) that could be tedious in a general tool like VisualAnalysis.
VisualShearWall will generate the model details while you specify the big-picture configuration of your structure. The software will analyze multiple load combinations applied to your structure to determine shear wall and diaphragm forces.
Both "rigid" and "flexible" diaphragm models are available, but the analysis is much more advanced than traditional methods as out-of-plane effects are also accounted for.

- Two Dimensional Isostatic Truss Structures Solver ITSS2D
- License: Freeware

This solver computes the internal loads on each member of two dimensional isostatic truss structures by using the method of joints. Since the Theory of Deformations is not considered in this program, displacements of the structures are not computed. All assumptions of Rational Mechanics are made in order to mantain the structure as a rigid body. Besides, only axial loads are assumed, so that torsion, bending and shear stresses are neglected and cannot be determined by this method. All the members of the structure satisfy the simplification hypothesis of the method of joints. After creating the geometrical structure model by using geom1 and geom2 functions and entering the boundary conditions of the physical problem (bc), external applied loads (extloads) must be entered.

- Okada: Surface deformation due to a finite rectangular source
- License: Freeware

The Okada [1985] model allows to calculate analytic solution for surface deformation due to shear and tensile faults in an elastic half-space. This model is widely used to simulate ground deformation produced by local perturbation like tectonic faults (earthquakes) or volcanic dykes. Given rectangular fault geometry (length, width, depth, strike, dip) and 3-component dislocation amplitude, it computes the displacements, tilt and horizontal strain on the free-surface. The proposed Matlab script is a literal transcription of the Okada's equations, except that it proposes a strike angle of the fault, dislocation parameters are given by: rake, slip and opening (instead of U1, U2, U3), following Aki & Richards [1980] definition, and coordinates are relative to fault centroid.

- Matrix Analysis of Three Dimensional Bar Structures MABS3D
- License: Freeware

Input data is the Microsoft Excelâ„¢ file, where the table of nodes, table of elements, nodal external loads vector and boundary conditions are stored. After running the mabs3d.m file on the Command Window, the program calculates the stiffness matrix in local coordinates kiL (element i). Once the transformation matrix associated to the element is obtained, the stiffness matrix in global coordinates kiG is also calculated. The table of connectivity is automatically generated for the assembly process and then computes the complete stiffness matrix of the structure. Boundary conditions are introduced on the Excelâ„¢ sheet in order to remove the singularity of the stiffness matrix.

- Velocity Profile of Laminar Flow of Carreau fluid in a Pipe
- License: Freeware

The velocity and shear stress versus radial position are determined for laminar flow of a Carreau fluid in a pipe. The shooting method is used to verify the no-slip boundary condition at the pipe's wall. Once the velocity at the center is determined, the governing Differential Algebraic Equations are solved numerically using ode15s to get the velocity profile in the pipe. A dialog box allows the user to input Carreau fluid parameters. - GUI application for pipe flow of a power-law fluid
- License: Freeware

The velocity and shear stress versus radial position are obtained for the laminar flow of a power-law fluid in a pipe. Pipe radius and applied pressure gradients can be set by the user. If you choose a power-law exponent, n, equal to 1 then a Newtonian fluid is recovered. Dilatant and pseudo-plastic fluids are obtained for n>1 and n<1, respectively. A non-Newtonian fluid has a viscosity that changes with the applied shear force. For a Newtonian fluid (such as water), the viscosity is independent of how fast you are stirring it, but for a non-Newtonian fluid the viscosity is dependent. It gets easier or harder to stir faster for different types of non-Newtonian fluids.

- Hydrodynamically Interacting Spheres at low Reynolds numbers in shear flows of a Newtonian fluid
- License: Freeware

Stokesian Dynamics, a method developed by Brady and Bossis in the 80s, simulate the 3D motion of hydrodynamically interacting spheres at low Reynolds numbers. The present contribution computes the trajectories of hydrodynamically interacting spheres in simple and oscillatory shear flows of a Newtonian fluid. Movies of particle trajectories are obtained as a result of the simulations. The FTS program was originally written by Professor Ron Phillips during his PhD thesis at MIT in 1989. The code was adapted from Fortran 77 to Mathematica by Housam Binous. Using Euler's integration scheme was one simplification, of the original code, that was performed by Housam Binous.
