Robot4 (tm) is a Robotic Arm Movement program where the arm is moved from a given position to a desired position. The program finds the angles necessary for the desired position. Problem came from NASA. Robot4 is an Inverse Problem example. It wants to solve how to move from starting point \'A\' to target point \'B\'. Solutions to Inverse Problems are easy with Calculus programming language. See file \'Rob4User.fc\' for solution code. This is an improved productivity example do to using Calculus programming. Industry problems with solutions over the past twenty plus years have been put into a textbook to show the power of Calculus (level) Problem-Solving.

Numerical solutions for the conversion of an isothermal axially dispersed plug flow reactor accomplishing first and second order reactions are obtained. The Danckwerts boundary conditions for the so-called "closed" configuration are used. We use the shooting method since it is a split-boundary-value problem. Damkohler number (Da) and Inverse Peclet number (1/Pe) must have same order of magnitude unless one gets a stiff ODE which cannot be solved easily with ode45..

- RBF Acoustic Tomography

Acoustic tomography involves sending a sonic signal across a measurement area and timing how long it takes to travel the distance. A number of transducers are situated around the measurement area to achieve this. Since the absolute sonic speed is affected by temperature and wind speed, so is the time of flight. It is possible to reconstruct the temperature and wind velocity from the collection of time-of-flight data. This package gives an example of using radial basis function networks to allow for a linear solution to the inverse problem. The example data is from a Karman vortex street behind a cylinder.

Modern day Windows computers are very complex but unfortunately far from perfect. Over time with the installation and removal of games, programs, software and hardware your computer can experience windows problems. Windows problems can make your computer perform very slowly. This can be on start up, shut down or just slow running in general. They can also cause your games, applications and other software to load slowly, crash or close unexpectedly or not open at all. Windows itself can also be greatly affected by these problems which all in all leads to frustration for you. Some people will solve windows problems by formating their C drive and loading Windows again.

- LAPJV - Jonker-Volgenant Algorithm for Linear Assignment Problem V2.4
- License: Freeware

The Jonker-Volgenant algorithm is much faster than the famous Hungarian algorithm for the Linear Assignment Problem (LAP). This Matlab implementation is modified from the original C++ code made by Roy Jonker, one of the inventors of the algorithm. It is about 10 times faster than the munkres code (v2.2) of the author. It can solve a 1000 x 1000 problem in about 3 seconds in a normal Intel Centrino processor. V1.1 returns the dual variables and the reduced cost matrix as well. V1.2 can deal with nonsquare assignment problems. V2.0 is faster for problems with a large range of costs. V2.1 includes an option to change the cost resolution to improve performance for some problems.

- Robust solver for Lambert's orbital-boundary value problem
- License: Freeware

A Lambert-orbital boundary value problem can be stated as "Find the orbit/trajectory of a spacecraft that flies from position [r1] to [r2], taking a time [tf] and making [m] complete orbits before arriving at [r2]. " The solution to each Lambert-problem is NOT unique; one can travel to [r2] via the long way or the short way, and for [m > 0] there are almost always two ellipses that satisfy the boundary conditions, so that [m > 0] has four distinct solutions. This function solves any Lambert problem *robustly*. It can handle short-way solutions (the default), long way solutions (by passing negative [tf]), or left-branch (default) or right-branch (by passing negative [m]) solutions in case [m > 0].

- Test problem LP
- License: Freeware

This is a program that generates a test problem for linear optimization with a sparse matrix. The test problem is of the kind min c'*x s.t. Aeq*x=beq lb<=x<=ub where lb is a zero vector and ub is greater then a zero vector so that the problem has a solution. The problem that generates is a minimum cost flow network problem. When the problem is generated the program will (if you want) show the graph of the problem. You call the program with the command [Aeq,beq,lb,ub,c]=simsys_sparse(m) where m is the number of rows you want Aeq to have. Before you change some variable in the program you have to choose m>=11.

- VDISTINV: Find the endpoint of a geodesic on the ellipsoidal earth
- License: Freeware

This function solves the "forward geodesic problem," which is to compute the endpoint of a geodesic (shortest-distance) path on the ellipsoidal earth, given the start point, a path length, and a starting azimuth. In response to a user request, this function numerically inverts the previously published VDIST function, which is contained within. (VDIST solves the "inverse geodesic problem" of computing the distance and azimuth between two known points, using Vincenty's 1975 algorithm.) Although numerically inverting VDIST is not a very efficient way to solve the forward problem, it provides a quick solution and also serves as an example of how to invert a function numerically in Matlab.
