- Simple Comments Script
- License: Freeware

Simple Comments Perl script allows you to implement a basic comment posting system on the static pages of your Web site. Features: - Template-based design: You can craft the HTML output by the scripts by adjusting template files separately from the Perl code. - Basic HTML support: A few unadorned HTML tags are supported in comments; - Separate administration: By default, Simple Comments requires that all comments submitted by users must be approved by an administrator before they are displayed on the site; the approval process itself is performed by a separate script from the display script, so it can be snugly tucked behind a password and SSL protected area of your site.

- Hikari Titled Comments
- License: Freeware

One of the best features Drupal has and I miss in WordPress is the possibility to set title to comments. With a title, we can identify the comment subject, it can be resumed to a phrase. Comments become more similar to articles and aggregate more value. I like to see comments as mini-articles. The post being the main article and comments being mini-articles that extend the main one. Now with title, WordPress comments are a bit closer to that approach. Hikari Titled Comments enables each comment to have a title, so that commentators can give a subject meaning to their comments. Features * Comments titles are stored as comment metadata.

- KB Backtick Comments
- License: Freeware

Although there are many plugins available for pasting code into posts, this is the first I'm aware of for pasting code into comments. It's very simple: To have code look right, all your commenters have to do is surround it in backticks, just like you can do in the WordPress.org support forums. For demos, check out the KB Backtick Comments demo at my site. One important note. This plugin will always work in comments, but it will not work in posts unless you first disable the visual editor. Support If you post your support questions as comments below, I probably won't see them. If the notes in the plugin file don't answer your questions, then post your support questions on a post in the KB Backtick Comments category at my site.

- Semi-Private Comments
- License: Freeware

This plugin masks comments so that a user can only see comments written by himself or by an admin. Admins can see all comments. This was written to make my trivia contests more interesting; by masking the contents of comments from everyone but the person who wrote the comment and admins (where "admin" = anyone with the ability to edit users), users cannot copy answers from other users. This gives everyone a fair chance at answering questions before the contest ends. But, there is nothing in the plugin that is specific to trivia contests, that's just what I use it for. How it works: The Create Post page gets a "Make comments Semi-Private" option.
