IM Buddy uses published SDKs to talk directly to Yahoo's server. As such, there is no middle-man involved and your information is kept confidential. This does have the drawback of not being able to utilize push notification since that would need done thought a middleman server. The panorama controls have been utilized to give IM Buddy a WP7 look and feel.
