This data can be used in many applications, like, in determination of orientation of any plane's azimuth from True North. The syntax is 'sun_azimuth_data' (no arguments). It prompts for Observer's geodetic coordinates, observer's time zone and starting time [according to local standard time]. Then, it asks the Time Period and intervals for which Sun Azimuth data has to be generated.

The associated error in converting between coordinate frames is on the order of 1.2*10^-11 km when compared to STK ephemeris output. To run this function type the following command in a MATLAB prompt: >> [r_ECI v_ECI] = ECEFtoECI(JD,r_ECEF,v_ECEF); Where JD is a Julian Date Vector [1 x N] r_ECEF is the position vector in ECEF coordinates [3 x N] v_ECEF is the velocity vector in ECEF coordinates [3 x N] r_ECI is the position vector in ECI coordinates [3 x N] v_ECI is the velocity vector in ECI coordinates [3 x N].

It also enables you to calculate the beginning and ending of astronomical, nautical, and civil twilight. The results of the calculations are formatted and written into a text editor. You can perform all common editing functions and save the data as a text file. The formulae used in Almanac assume an ideal horizon where the intersection of the sky with the apparent plane of the earth\'s surface at the observer is the horizon.
