Rolling hero 2 is a puzzle game which takes many of the concepts from games of a similar nature, mainly the way the game is presented, the graphical style, and the music choice. The game does bring some unique elements to the table however, and is actually entertaining. Rolling hero 2 is a very unique game in that, instead of controlling a character, you control the level itself.

In rolling hero two, you use the left and right arrow key to tilt the stage left and right. This will make the “character” (a ball) follow gravity, and go the opposite direction. The puzzle element of this is to try and get the ball from the start of the stage, to the end of the stage. There are a variety of obstacles and variations on this, however. For instance, after the first few stages you will have to collect a key from somewhere in the level before you can reach the end of the level and move onto the next.

On top of this, there are a variety of other items to collect in the levels. Firstly, there are jewels and coins which can be collected, usually in slightly out of the way places, which are harder to get to than the end of the level, and therefore add extra challenge to the game for a second play through. There are also spike balls, which when your character hits, will kill you. These phase in and out of “existing” so timing is key to getting past them. There are also stationery spikes which do not go down, and will also kill you, so there are a variety of extra additions to the levels.

The game has fifty levels, which slowly increase in difficulty. Unfortunately the difficulty curve of the game is very steep. This will mean the first few levels of the game are fairly easy, as you would expect from a game but past level five or so, the levels difficulty ramps up to insane level just a few levels later, to a level where it will take 10-15 minutes per stage, which isn't the sort of pace a game should have. In addition to this, the controls are a little dodgy, and the game has a few glitches if you try to tilt one way very fast, which breaks the gameplay completely

Overall rolling hero 2 is a fun game with a unique concept, however the execution of the concept was a little poorly achieved, with multiple bugs, poor controls and bad level progression. However, the game has a pretty good art style, and is definitely very nice to look at, and fairly good to play, to an extent. However, the game is a lot more difficult than you probably expect it to be, so if you want a fun puzzle game that you can actually play, this might not be the sort of game for you.
