Manic Digger Editor's Review
For any or those whom have played Minecraft, you may recognise manic digger almost instantly. That's because it practically is Minecraft – a game with no aim but to build whatever you like. Minecraft came to be extremely popular, and afterwards many games came out as copies of it. It is understandable why, because if they can get a one up on Minecraft then there is a lot of money at hand. Either way, Minecraft has turned out to be a fantastic game, and for a developer to even wish to compete with it, the game needs to have a lot of extra features. Lets see how manic digger did.
Firstly, I would like to state that Manic digger looks as if it uses the exam same engine that Minecraft does. It literally has the same graphics, if not a little bit worse. However this is no issue as Manic digger allows you to download texture packs and completely revamp the graphics. This is just the beginning of manic digger, being extremely similar to Minecraft. Both allow you to mod the game, however Manic digger is much easier to do this. You do not require a 'hacked' version of the game, you can just simply mod it straight away. Saying this, Manic digger has hundreds of mods, they are just unfortunately, not as good as the ones you get in Minecraft. In conclusion for the modifications of manic digger, they are good and easy. However, the issue is that they aren'y unique enough. Minecraft has such a wide variation of mods that you can use, things like magic, creatures, planes etc. Manic digger doesn't have things as good as those.
One popular aspect of manic digger is its war mode. In this it allows you to kill other players – the game is online multiplayer. This is a really fun game, where you build up your base and fight other people. You can ally with other players, make enemies, or just simply be neutral. There are endless possibilities of what you can do in this game. The graphics of the gun aren't exactly fantastic, but graphics isn't really the most important part of Manic digger, the gameplay is what makes it fun.
There is one little issue with manic digger however. Which is, it can have login issues. This can completely stop users playing the game because they cannot get onto the game. This has recently been fixed in which players found that it didn't work in internet explorer, but still had some issues. That is the issue with indie games, they do not get looked at enough and sooner or later players begin to stop playing.
Either way, I can overall say that Manic digger is worth downloading. There are lots of things to do, and it is a nice free alternative of Minecraft. There are some fun mods and texture packs you can use – and a large community to play with. I really do suggest downloading this, it's definitely worth the try. I give it a rating of 4/5.
