We usually use the keyboard shortcut "Win+D" or press the "Show Desktop" button in the Quick Launch Bar to access desktop, but unfortunately it isn`t very convenient: If you like to keep 20+ programs running at the same time (just like me), the progress will take a few seconds. What`s worse, you can`t come back to the previous window instantly after running a program or opening a document from the desktop, you have to look for it in the taskbar and your train of thought is often interrupted. Add clarity to your work by separating programs on your taskbar. The separator is as black as possible to be clearly visible as such.

This tool is used in conjunction with a vertical taskbar and a program that enables you to rearrange the programs on your taskbar. I (the creator) use Taskbar Shuffle for this (get it there: http://nerdcave.webs.com/). It is recommended to put a link to Separator in the Quick Launch bar.

My approach for sorting the taskbar buttons is (from top to bottom): Music, anything I can't classify or want to look at later, Separator, any number of work sessions with Separators after them, archive of the current work session, Separator, current work session.
