- GPAnalyser
- License: Freeware

GPAnalyser is a tool for fluid analysis of massively parallel systems. The core of GPA is based on the paper by Hayden et. al. showing how to derive systems of ordinary differential equations approximating moments of populations in models described in the Markovian process algebra PEPA. GPA efficiently implements these techniques and extensions allowing calculation of accumulated rewards and computation of passage time probabilities. The techniques are slightly generalised and GPA supports a larger class of models.

Newton number (also called the drag coefficient) and Archimedes number are plotted versus the Reynolds number for the laminar, transition and turbulent flow types using a log-log scale. A numerical example of the terminal fall velocity computation of a single spherical particle in a Newtonian fluid, for the turbulent flow type, is given in the program. For laminar flow, the terminal velocity expression is given by the well-known Stokes? law. Measurement of terminal fall velocity has important applications such as viscosity determination (e.

Professor Jim Wilkes provides representative values of the volumetric flow rate versus the applied pressure gradient for horizontal flow in a pipe [1]. The pipe radius is equal to 0.01 m. We use these representative values, in conjunction with the analytical expression of the volumetric flow rates determined using Mathematica, to compute the parameters of the constitutive equation for both power law and Bingham fluids. - Taylor Table

Based on the concept of the Taylor Table given in Fundamentals of Computational Fluid Dynamics by Lomax, Pulliam, and Zingg. Given the terms of the point operator, "TaylorTable" will determine the coefficients of the terms which minimizes the Taylor series error. It will also determine the Taylor series error and the order of accuracy of the method. (The screen shot is an example of the resulting Taylor Table of the central difference of the 2nd derivative)..

- Vertical Laminar Flow of a Bingham Fluid down a Wall
- License: Freeware

The code computes the velocity profile for the vertical laminar flow of a Bingham fluid down a wall. As expected the profile is flat near the surface of the liquid film. In fact, we have a zero velocity gradient only when the shear stress is large enough (superior to tau0). This behaviour is typical of Bingham fluids. - Velocity Profile of Laminar Flow of Carreau fluid in a Pipe
- License: Freeware

The velocity and shear stress versus radial position are determined for laminar flow of a Carreau fluid in a pipe. The shooting method is used to verify the no-slip boundary condition at the pipe's wall. Once the velocity at the center is determined, the governing Differential Algebraic Equations are solved numerically using ode15s to get the velocity profile in the pipe. A dialog box allows the user to input Carreau fluid parameters. For a paper and programs on non-Newtonian fluids using Mathematica, please visit the following links: http://library.

- GUI application for pipe flow of a power-law fluid
- License: Freeware

The velocity and shear stress versus radial position are obtained for the laminar flow of a power-law fluid in a pipe. Pipe radius and applied pressure gradients can be set by the user. If you choose a power-law exponent, n, equal to 1 then a Newtonian fluid is recovered. Dilatant and pseudo-plastic fluids are obtained for n>1 and n<1, respectively. A non-Newtonian fluid has a viscosity that changes with the applied shear force. For a Newtonian fluid (such as water), the viscosity is independent of how fast you are stirring it, but for a non-Newtonian fluid the viscosity is dependent.
