The Desktop Heap Monitor is a tool that examines usage of desktop heap. WIN32 subsystem has internal heap area known as &desktop heap.& When you run a large number of Windows-based programs, &Out Of Memory& error messages appear when you attempt to start new programs or try to use programs that are already running, even though you still have plenty of physical and pagefile memory available.

This behavior can occur if the desktop heap in the WIN32 subsystem is depleted (see KB#126962).

By using the Desktop Heap Monitor, you can examine how much desktop heap is consumed without interrupting the running system.

FEATURES:

Display summary or verbose information:
· Dheapmon can display summary or verbose information about Desktop Heap usage.
· If Dheapmon is executed from terminal server session, it will display desktop heap information for current logon session, not session 0 unless you logon to the Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server with 'mstsc /console' option.

Save information into text file:
· Dheapmon can save Desktop Heap information into specified file. The file is written as append mode.

· Install without symbol file
· Dheapmon can be installed without symbol file if you specify '-f' option.
· This option is only available for uni-processor kernel.

Install or Uninstall do not require system reboot:
· No system reboot operation is necessary for installing and uninstalling Dheapmon.

Detect win32k.sys version and loaded address changes:
· Dheapmon may detect system's win32k.sys version and loaded address changes at driver loading timing to avoid further problem.
