Daedalus - An open-source N64 emulator. Editor's Review
Daedalus can be seen as two different things. One, it can be seen as an Nintendo 64 emulator, in which you can simply download nintendo 64 roms (which are pretty much nintendo 64 games but instead playable on the computer) and play them on this software easily. Secondly, it can be seen as a massive development project. Allowing its users to simply edit the games, create their own games and relatively create attacks.
Looking at Daedalus as an emulator alone, it is really impressive. Recently, it has become extremely popular amongst Nintendo 64 players, beginning to compete with the well known Project 64. Why? Possibly because it has made it extremely easy to attack and cheat in games giving many an advantage. Back when we used to actually play the Nintendo 64 consoles, Nintendo enjoyed keeping us away from many features. You could only gain access to them from owning different games, appliances or going to Nintendo events. Which were usually hosted in Japan. Now, Daedalus has given us the ability to bypass these restrictions and experience the whole game, no limitations. Comparing it to other emulators, I found that It had a lot more better features too. For one, I found very little graphical glitches. I remember in Pokemon stadium 2, project 64 had a lot of graphical glitches. Believing it was the ROM itself, I let it go. After playing the same ROM on Daedalus, there was no graphical glitch. In general, Daedalus just worked a lot better than its competitors, it didn't freeze as much and was easier to use.
Now looking at Daedalus as an open-source editing program. I can truly say its fantastic. Attacking games can be an extremely complicated thing. It takes learning a lot of different programming languages, and takes a lot of time to programmed them. Simply, Daedalus practically makes doing this so much easier. You can use different nintendo 64 roms to assist you. Using its graphics, sprites, sound effects and music. You can simply load up a rom, edit parts of it and you're done. I hope they develop something similar for the game boy advance. I know many people have created Pokemon hacks which are increasingly fun.
Overall, I definitely recommend downloading Daedalus. It is really impressive. For any person who wants to create their own nintendo 64 game, or even just playing them you can simply use this program and make your life easier and better. I give this program a rating of 5/5. It has been developed so well.
