CRF# was specially developed as an Open Source .NET version of Conditional Random Fields, a machine learning algorithm for learning from a labeled sequences of examples.
CRF# is widely used in Natural Language Process (NLP) tasks, for example: word breaker, postagging, named entity recognized and so on.
CRF#'s mainly algorithm is the same as CRF++. In fact, it not only ports CRF++'s main algorithm from C++ to C#, but also optimized memory usage to fix CRF++ memory abuse problem during encoding.
Currently, when training corpus, compared with CRF++, CRF# only uses very low memory, and memory growth is very smooth and slow while the amount of training corpus and tags increase.
