Bike Mania Arena 4 Editor's Review

Bike arena 4 is a fairly typical biking game, in which you play as a dirt bike and try to navigate a school desk environment that is the game by making the bike go forwards and backwards, and leaning the character forward and backwards. This will allow you to climb past the scenery, albeit requiring a decent amount of skill to make certain jumps. The skill in the game is knowing when to lean, and when to break, and when you should accelerate.

The levels vary as you progress through the game, with the common theme being the game is entirely school themed levels, with extra rulers, cans, books and more difficult placement of all these things around the level, in ways that require you to make jumps to progress further in the level, or slowly climb up rounded objects such as rocks which are inconveniently placed to make the levels more and more difficult.

The atmosphere of the game itself is fairly good as well, with the art style being fairly average, but the scenery elements look very, very good, possibly due to the unique theme of the game. The actual controllable parts of the game, and the parts of the game you can actually drive over, all look pretty below average for a game of its nature. The music and sound of the game are fairly strange, as the vehicle noises are very loud and the level of them are a lot louder than the music. Also, you can not turn off just the bike sounds or just the music

The game controls slightly poorly. The controls really need a bit of extra work, as they are pretty good when examined by themselves, but for a dirt bike game, the nature of the skill based concept of the game means the game should have air tight controls, which should respond immediately. What the game does end up having, is problems getting the vehicle to do what you need it to do, because you'll need it to steer in a very precise way in a very short amount of time, and it will not deliver, which is a definite negative for the game.

Overall, Bike mania arena 4 is a fairly good game of its genre, as it is a dirt bike game which has a fairly unique setting, with a  graphical style to match it. It also claims to be the original dirt bike game, and it gains a little bit of respect for that. However, what the game does lack, is a decent control system, which makes the game a little unbearable to play if you're trying to play it well. The game does have a decent number of levels, however, so if you want a generic bike game with a serious difficulty spike; much greater than either its sequel (5) or its predecessor (3) this game would probably be great for you, otherwise; probably not worth a download.
