The back and forward view change buttons in previous versions of Microsoft MapPoint were removed in MapPoint 2009. The Back and Forward Utility implements this functionality as two menu items on the Tools menu. Users can now move back to previous map views, or move forward returning to the start point. Software is freeware and open source (Berkeley) and also serves as a simple how-to example about programming a MapPoint add-in using .NET and Visual Studio.

  • GridImp
  • License: Shareware
  • Price: 75.00

Imports gridded data into Microsoft MapPoint, to produce attractive data maps that resemble contour maps. Input data consists of a value that is defined for various (gridded) geographic coordinates. Common text output formats such as CSV are supported. Can handle imperfect data, holes, re-gridding, etc. Can be used to import such attributes as pollution data, seismic hazard, geological information, customer/population distribution, etc. Data can be interpolated to different grid spacings if required. Polygon optimization algorithms reduce the drawing time, as well as GridImp's cpu & memory requirements. Various text formats supported using space, tab, or comma separators with both Unix and DOS/Windows newline conventions. Data coordinates can be longitude, latitude coordinates; custom linear coordinates; or UK Ordnance Survey...

These International OSM charts are intended to complement our existing
North American and European charts, but cover all countries in the world.
To do this, they are calculated using OpenStreetMap data computed using
the pgRouting engine.

Cities are chosen as the 1000 largest cities with a population of at least
1000. All countries with at least two cities fitting this criteria are
included. The exceptions are the US and UK - the two countries with OSM road
networks that are too complex for pgRouting.

Each chart is supplied as an Excel 2007 .xlsx spreadsheet file with one
worksheet listing the shortest route distances in kilometers. Cells are shaded
according to routability. Pink is used for routes cannot be calculated, whilst
beige is used for cities that...

European Mileage Charts and Tables stored as Excel 2007 workbooks, including travel times and distances for both the fastest and shortest routes. Includes two pan-European table; plus tables for 24 European countries. Includes workbooks for pan-Europe (short and long); and 24 European countries. Individual charts include the 1000 largest cities with a population of 1000 or more. The main Pan-European chart includes the 1000 largest cities, and a smaller Pan-European chart is limited to the 250 largest cities for brevity.
Charts are available for individual download, or as a combined zip (533MB in size). Workbooks use the industry-standard Excel 2007 format. 2007 is required due to the large size of these workbooks. Cities are chosen and located using Geonames.org data.

Microsoft MapPoint add-in that performs cluster analysis on MapPoint datasets. Cluster results can be drawn as map annotation (centroid pushpins and/or cluster boundary shapes) and exported to Microsoft Excel. MPCluster works with most MapPoint dataset types, including pushpins and shaded areas maps. Various parameters can be used to restrict the minimum or maximum size of clusters, as well as the maximum number of clusters to find, and the minimum distance between cluster centers. MPCluster can use data field to either weight cluster centroid locations and/or constrain cluster size. MPCluster can be run multiple times overlaying multiple annotation layers to aid comparisons. Annotation from old cluster 'runs' to be managed using the 'Manage Clusters' dialog box. This form lets you delete annotation, export contained data points (eg....

Batch calculate route distances, travel times, and/or estimated costs for point-to-point routes listed in a database (Access, Excel, or ODBC). Uses Microsoft MapPoint for point locations and route calculations. Supports all of MapPoint's route options including fastest routes, shortest routes, preferred roads, and straight lines (Great Circles). Start and end locations are specified using pushpins, longitude/latitude coordinates, or street addresses. Road speeds/etc can also be set. Supports all versions of MapPoint from MapPoint 2006 to the latest MapPoint 2011. The database can be any version of Access or Excel v2003 onwards. Access or an ODBC database is recommended for speed. ODBC support includes runtime login credentials, and all three kinds of Data Source Names (DSNs): User DSNs, System DSNs, and File DSNs. Can output route distances, travel times and/or estimated costs to Microsoft Excel workbooks or text files. Supports ALL MapPoint routing options including fastest/shortest/preferred-roads/straight-line routes, road speeds, road preferences, rest stops, overnight stays, and avoid polygons. Supports both the North American and European editions of MapPoint (versions: 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011). With the ability to batch process thousands of routes, large mileage charts become practical compared to manual calculations. The MPRouteWriter add-in imports and exports waypoints for Microsoft MapPoint routes whilst maintaining their route order. Although MapPoint can import and export waypoints as pushpins, their order is usually re-arranged. MPRouteWriter exports waypoints and their matching pushpins to Excel (or a text file) with their waypoint distance, time, coordinate, address data, and all available pushpin data fields. Routes can also be optimized. Pushpins can be matched to waypoints using two different methods. They can be matched on name (unreliable if duplicate names exist); or name and distance (slower but reliable). Data fields can be sorted by name to ensure consistency. MPRouteWriter includes MPRouteReader which is used to import routes from pushpins in a pre-determined order. This order is specified by a pushpin data field (typically...

MPSuperShape is a shape manipulation tool for Microsoft MapPoint. MPSuperShape can be used to combine multiple shapes into one large shape, find the intersections (overlaps) between shapes, find boundary shapes around groups of pushpins, simplify shapes, delete multiple shapes, change shape colors, import/export shape files, and to create web pages. Import shape options include ESRI Shape (SHP) files, MapInfo MIF files, Keyhole (KML), and GML. MPSuperShape can also export to ESRI Shape (SHP) files; MapInfo MIF files; GML; KML; pushpins in shapes to Excel; and webpages that use Google Maps or Microsoft Bing Maps (Virtual Earth). Shapefile SHP and MapInfo MIF import/export options support different projections and coordinate systems. Possible applications include: Combining drive-time areas to find the total area covered by existing...
