JSONlab was a component developed for the iso2mesh project (http://iso2mesh.sf.net). For the latest information regarding JSONlab, please visit its homepage at http://iso2mesh.sf.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi?jsonlab JSON (javascript Object Notation) is a highly portable, human-readable and "fat-free" text format to represent complex and hierarchical data. It is as powerful as XML, but less verbose. JSON format is widely used for data-exchange in applications, and is essential for the wild success of Ajax and Web2.0. With the fast advance of web-based technologies, we envision that JSON will serve as a mainstream data-exchange format for scientific research in the future, and fulfill part of the roles achieved by HDF5. JSONlab is a free and open-source implementation of a JSON encoder and a decoder in the native MATLAB language. It can be...

Metch, is specially designed as a handy Matlab / Octave-based mesh / volume registration toolbox.
It provides straightforward functions to register point clouds (or surfaces) to a triangular/cubic surface mesh by calculating an optimal affine transformation (in terms of matrix A for scaling and rotation, and b for translation).
It also allows one to project a point cloud onto the surface using surface norms and guarantee the conformity of the points to the surface. At this point, Metch can only perform rigid-body registration in terms of a linear transformation.

Monte Carlo eXtreme, otherwise kown as MCX, is a Monte Carlo simulation tool for time-resolved photon transport in 3D turbid media.
It uses Graphics Processing Units (GPU) based massively parallel computing techniques and is extremely fast compared to the traditional single-threaded CPU-based simulations.
Using an nVIDIA 8800GT graphics card (14MP/114Cores), the acceleration is about 300x~400x compared to tMCimg running on a single core of Xeon 5120 CPU; this ratio can be as high as 700x with a GTX 280 GPU and 1400x with a GTX 470.
