| ListenUp is a client/server solution for recording sound in a web browser, and uploading that sound to a web server using simple GUI. Web designers can choose sampling rates from 8000Hz to 44100Hz. Voice compression for bitrates can be as low as 5 kbps.
On the client side, a Java applet runs in a web browser and provides record and playback functionality. The Applet is developed in Java1.1. The look and feel of this applet can be customized with paramenters sent to the Applet. The Applet can be controlled by JavaScript allowing the us of a custom GUI. It supports Speex compression, which varies from 10:1 to 28:1. It supports ADPCM 4:1 compression, which can be played directly by most browsers or mail clients.
