% Estimate lengths on an image by point-click. % [lengths] = image_measure; % % This function prompts the user to select an image file to open, then % opens and plots the image. The program waits for the user to resize the % image if desired. The user then: % 1.) left-clicks on the endpoints of a known dimension in the image to % establish a reference length and then % 2.) types the length of the reference in a dialog box, % 3.) clicks on as many pairs of points as desired in the image to measure % their separation distance relative to the reference.

This submission contains an implementation of the modal substructuring approach described in Chapter 9 of Ginsberg, 'Mechanical and Structural Vibrations,' Wiley, 2001. The well known Craig-Bampton component mode synthesis method is a special case of the approach implemented here. The routine 'ritzscomb' can be used to predict the mode shapes, natural frequencies and damping ratios of an assembly of substructures from the modes of the subcomponents and the constraints that are to be enforced. For simpler problems where one wishes to add or remove rigid springs or masses from a structure, the routine 'ritzsmod' can be used. The methods implemented here were recently used in the following publication, where the 'modal constraint' method, implemented in 'mkmodalconstr' was described in detail. M. S. Allen, R. L. Mayes, and E. J....

- Nonlinearity Detection using Zeroed Early-Time FFTs
- License: Freeware

Nonlinearity detection scheme based on zeroing the initial time response over various intervals and computing the FFT of each, as described in: M. S. Allen and R. L. Mayes, "Estimating the Degree of Nonlinearity in Transient Responses with Zeroed Early-Time Fast Fourier Transforms," in International Modal Analysis Conference Orlando, Florida, 2009. It works by deleting the beginning of the time history up to some zero crossing and then taking the FFT. In this way one can see when certain features in the frequency domain drop out in time. This is quite different than most time-frequency methods such as wavelets because the initial response is zeroed rather than nullified using a window. ZEFFTs are especially effective if nonlinear events occur very early and decay in only a few cycles, such as macroslip of a joint due to impulsive...
